A pretty unpredictable mystery.  5/5 stars, highly recommended.

The City in the Middle of the Night by Charlie Jane Anders

This is a Hugo Nominee and I hope it wins.  It's a superbly crafted book. 5/5 stars, highly recommended.

A pretty good read if you don't mind the fetishes of Dean Koontz i.e intelligent dogs and gory villains.  5/5 stars, highly recommended.

If It Bleeds by Stephen King

A novella is a form King has returned to over and over again in the course of his amazing career, and many have been made into iconic films, including “The Body” (Stand By Me) and “Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption” (Shawshank Redemption). Like Four Past Midnight, Different Seasons, and most recently Full Dark, No Stars, If It Bleeds is a uniquely satisfying collection of longer short fiction by an incomparably gifted writer.

I enjoyed this but it is not his best.  4/5 stars, recommended.

Rosewater by Tade Thompson

Rosewater is a town on the edge. A community formed around the edges of a mysterious alien biodome, its residents comprise the hopeful, the hungry, and the helpless - people eager for a glimpse inside the dome or a taste of its rumored healing powers.

Kaaro is a government agent with a criminal past. He has seen inside the biodome, and doesn't care to again -- but when something begins killing off others like himself, Kaaro must defy his masters to search for an answer, facing his dark history and coming to a realization about a horrifying future.

This book was pretty good, but I won't be reading the sequel. 4/5 stars, recommended.

The English Girl by Daniel Silva

I think I've now read all 20 Gabriel Allon Books, and I enjoyed every one. 5/5 stars, highly recommended.
